My post content

Hi kids!

I’m Jason, and welcome to the very first episode of the Ghosty Twist Podcast! I have a secret to share... I’m a ghost in a library! But don’t worry—I’m not the scary kind. Actually, I’m pretty friendly (and kind of funny, if I say so myself).

Let me tell you how it all started. It was a snowy day during the Christmas holidays in 2025. I was down underground—my, uh, "home"—and I was so bored. Down there, it’s just worms, bones, sand, and some weird bugs that don’t even talk. Not exactly exciting, right?

So, I decided it was time for some fun. And as you know, Christmas is the season of wishes, and sometimes, wishes come true! I wished for books and stories to keep me company. Suddenly, the door to my graveyard creaked open, and a shiny fairy appeared! She pointed me to a library and said, “Go have fun, bookworm!”

When I got there, wow! I found shelves and shelves of amazing books. I read and read and read—stories about princesses and kings, monsters and aliens, and so much more. I loved them all, but sometimes, I thought, “What if these stories had a twist?

Then one day, I stumbled upon a recording studio in the library, and a magical idea popped into my ghostly head: “Why not make a podcast for kids where I can twist the stories however I like?”

Oh, and kids, this isn’t an imaginary library—it’s real! Let me check its name... Ah, yes! It’s the North Vancouver District Library, Lynn Valley Branch. The staff here are so nice—I wish they could see me! But since they can’t (yet!), this podcast isn’t officially connected to the library.

Alright, enough chit-chat. It’s time for my very first story! Let’s begin.

The Tale of Mocha Belle and the Sweet Queen

Once upon a time, there was a kind and wise queen who ruled her kingdom with love and fairness. Everyone called her "Sweet Majesty" because she always treated everyone with kindness and care.

The queen had a stepdaughter, the clever and adventurous Princess Mocha Belle. Now, Mocha Belle loved being beautiful. She had shiny hair, sparkling eyes, and a dazzling smile-but sometimes, she cared a little too much about her looks.

One day, Mocha Belle remembered the magical mirror her stepmother had hidden away. The queen had locked it up, saying, "This mirror only causes jealousy. What matters is kindness, not beauty."

But Mocha Belle thought differently. "I bet that mirror will say I'm the most beautiful person in the kingdom!" she said to herself

Determined to find it, she searched high and low-digging through dusty attics, spooky dungeons, and even the royal pantry (where she accidentally ate an entire box of cookies). Finally, she discovered the mirror hidden behind a cupboard.

She hung it on her wall, polished it, and said, "Mirror, mirror, on the wall, who is the fairest of them all?"

The mirror stretched and yawned. "Oh wow, it's been years since anyone talked to me! Who are you?"

"I'm Mocha Belle, the future queen and the most stunning princess ever!" she said with confidence.

The mirror blinked. "Okay, hold on. Let me process this." It shimmered and replied, "You know what? You are pretty amazing! Hair like silk, eyes like stars, skin that glows brighter than morning coffee-wow, you're incredible!"

Mocha Belle beamed. "Finally, someone who sees what I see!"

The mirror didn't stop there. "You've got cheekbones that could slice cake! And that smile? Whew, it's like a sunrise on a snowy day."

Mocha Belle's laugh echoed through the castle, attracting the servants. Soon, everyone gathered outside her room to see what was going on.

Mocha Belle turned to the crowd and said, "Everyone, the mirror agrees-I'm the fairest! I should be queen now!"

The servants cheered, and Mocha Belle marched to her stepmother. The Sweet Queen sighed and handed over the crown. "Here you go, darling," she said. "But remember, beauty is fleeting, and kindness is what truly lasts."

Mocha Belle didn't pay much attention to the queen's words. She became queen and ruled happily for a while, with the mirror praising her every day. But after a few years, she started noticing that there were many beautiful people in her kingdom.

She decided to test the mirror. She brought a girl from the village who was known for her beauty and asked, "Mirror, mirror, on the wall, who is the fairest of them all? Me or her?"

The mirror hesitated. "Do you promise not to get mad if I tell the truth?"

"Of course!" Mocha Belle said.

The mirror sighed and said, "Well... neither of you. There's this boy on Rainbow Avenue who's absolutely dazzling. But hey, you're still in the top ten!"

Mocha Belle was furious. "You LIED to me all these years!"

The mirror shrugged. "You wanted compliments. I just gave you what you wanted to hear."

Realizing her vanity had blinded her, Mocha Belle felt ashamed. She decided to find the Sweet Queen and apologize. After a long journey, she found the queen living peacefully in a cottage with seven cheerful dwarfs.

But when Mocha Belle arrived, she learned that the queen had fallen into a deep sleep. The mirror had sent her a poisoned chocolate as revenge for locking it away. Heartbroken, Mocha Belle knelt by her stepmother's side.

"I'm so sorry," she said, tears streaming down her face. "This is all my fault." She kissed the queen gently on the forehead.

Suddenly, the Sweet Queen's eyes fluttered open. The spell was broken!

The queen smiled and said, "It seems love and regret are powerful magic, too.

From that day on, Mocha Belle and the Sweet Queen ruled the kingdom together with kindness and wisdom. And the mirror? It was locked away forever, replaced by the truth that beauty fades, but love and kindness last forever
